Day 13: Frozen Winter Wharf
2026-02-19
Hello!
A technical note, again: I've turned off most analytics for this blog. I don't need to know whether you open an email or where you visit the website. So, from now on, those trackers should be disabled :-).
I'll admit that when I had both this photo of the wharf and the other photo of the frozen winter pier, I knew I would have to include both.
This photo is still near the small-town Main Street, like the previous few days have been. I've already talked about the town's history and its row of shoreline statues. The town has recently done a lot of renovation to be more touristy, and this is a major part of that.
Next to a green park of sorts, this wharf and the immediate surrounding area host concerts and festivals, and in warmer seasons, I would assume locals would take their boat and go fishing. Small local events like this are great for photos, but unfortunately, the wharf was closed; no one was willing to party in the snow.
Still, it was my first time in this area, and I already want to go back. Maybe not just for the wharf (or even the borough), but I want it to be a dedicated stop next time I drive through. Already, I'm looking through the restaurants on Mill Street and seeing which ones I could order from.
In the future, I'm going to try to sign up for interesting events and take photos. It's such an easy way to photograph action (and it's much less awkward, because people expect a photographer anyway!) and it gives me something to do besides waiting in line for the bathroom.
But for now, we leave Bristol and its historic Mill Street and retreat into the snowy woods and plains. Maybe. I've yet to plan that far ahead.
Thank you for visiting this blog! Special thanks to the newsletter subscribers; you get this photo a week before the internet does :-).
Cheers,
David
