Day 17: Winter Park Gazebo
2026-02-23
Back at the local county park...
Hello!
Earlier, I touched on how cold it was walking through that snowy park. I had brought winter boots, but I still constantly slipped on the icy snow. Huge gusts of wind made me regret not bringing a scarf, mask, or hand warmers. Suffice it to say, I was unprepared.
In fact, to get this photo, I wanted the picture to capture the entire gazebo, framed in the surrounding trees and shrubs. There's a sidewalk that passes by the gazebo, but it was too near; my lens of choice would have been too tight, and the shot would look cramped.
So I army crawled on the snow uphill to get further away from the gazebo. It would have also been easier to go downhill towards the river, but I now think the river makes for a pretty great background.
I looked crazy, but luckily, no one else was around!
If you ever needed proof that I'm not a top-of-the-line pro, this is that proof. I thought I'd share this story to assure anybody out there that I'm just a silly human who sometimes really likes how a view looks in camera.
Finally, a classical orchestra eating chili peppers. It feels mean to laugh at them — I feel bad for the woodwind players especially — but I'm still laughing anyway.
Thank you for visiting this blog! Special thanks to the newsletter subscribers; you get this photo a week before the internet does :-).
Cheers,
David
