Day 20: White Trees Make Way for Winter Sky

2026-02-26

Hello!

The state of the photography industry is complex and beyond me. I've taken photos for sports games and events, and I hope to post some of my work soon!

The photography industry is a particularly interesting topic for me today, because the CP+ Camera and Photo Show is starting. As far as I can tell, it's a trade show where manufacturers and companies will be releasing many new products or major software versions. Most of the products (new cameras and lenses for those new cameras) don't fit in my workflow, but if my editing software of choice gets major revisions and non-AI features, I'll be satisfied. No clue if that'll happen, though.

Now, for a silly post. A short while ago, I spent ages on my laptop screen reading blogs. It's healthier than doomscrolling social media, but I spent a long time on random websites learning nothing.

There's one good thing that came out of that, though! A blog idea:

The Sandwich Questionnaire.

I found this through the Forking Mad blog. How I got there, I have no recollection. Must be because their name is also David.

How Many Sandwiches Do You Eat Per Week?: Less than one per week, I prefer wraps. I also don't eat breakfast, so that cuts down on my opportunity-for-sandwich metric. Although, my breakfast sandwich would be the grilled cheese.

When Do You Eat Sandwiches?: Unless they're specially made and unconventional, I make myself lazy sandwiches as a snack for the times when I'm just too busy to sit down and have a real lunch.

What's Your Go-To Sandwich Order?: My lazy sandwiches are grilled cheese (rare), ham and cheese (most common. must have kewpie mayo), and peanut butter and jelly (an American-only thing, apparently. I get it; it's a strange food).

If I had the time to treat myself, I'd put everything that tastes crunchy or juicy in a sandwich. Salami, cherry peppers, pepper jack cheese, onion. Whatever I have.

Do You Prefer Hot or Cold Sandwiches?: The one hot sandwich I'm good at making is a grilled cheese. Otherwise, it comes straight out of the fridge and is cut up right into the bread.

What's Your Favorite Type Of Bread?: Whole-grain sliced bread from the supermarket. Given that I live in the US, it's still probably unhealthy, but it's a step.

Do You Like Condiments?: A disclaimer — I've never had Marmite or Vegemite, ever. I like reasonably spicy things (as I said: cherry peppers and pepper jack cheese), so I might also get some buffalo sauce or whatever spicy oil I can find.

What About Pickles?: Fine, but must be used delicately. They're absolutely not a go-to option! Better on a plain burger. Are those sandwiches?

Sweet Or Savory?: Savory. Exceptions include Nutella sandwiches and PBJ sandwiches, which are not a common sight.

Do You Cut Your Sandwiches?: I'm not fussed about it. If they must be cut for portability, diagonal is the best. But I'm inherently a lazy human being no matter what I try and I just want food in my mouth.

What's The Worst Sandwich Crime?: Anything to do with the microwave. I'm sure someone can make great stuff from that machine, but I haven't found it. Must be fresh.

What's Your Ideal Sandwich-Eating Environment?: With friends at a shop or a picnic. Store-bought sandwiches are great too!

Why Sandwiches?: Easy food with so much versatility. It's easy to mix things up and still come home without needing to use the bathroom immediately.

Thank you for visiting this blog! Special thanks to the newsletter subscribers; you get this photo a week before the internet does :-).

Cheers,
David
