Day 21: The DJ Sets the Stage

Hello! Happy Lunar New Year! I'm not too late, am I?
My high school had a Lunar New Year celebration last Friday. As far as I know, I was the only student photographer on the scene. For sports and event photography, I'm loving this wide-angle lens that stretches out the image in a fun way. Events and sports are all just entertainment! If I wanted to go documentary-style, I would use a more professional lens, but instead, I'm focusing on the feel of the event space as a whole.
I wasn't able to attend the entire event. I only saw the last two hours or so, but that's fine; those were the most active hours of the celebration anyway. Student dancers and singers performing, food cooked in bulk by attending families. And a student DJ blasting music while the dance floor was open in the meantime.
If I wasn't at the celebration most of the time, then where was I? Well, I was preparing for another production event that I hope to share soon. No guarantees, though...
Finally, a guide to photography basics, brought to you by National Geographic. Free online resources like these are great, and if you wanted to know the jargon of photography gear and settings, this would be an easy way to look it up. Granted, the guide is a bit outdated — it seems to be from 2010, so it doesn't mention super-modern technologies. They only claim to be a guide on the basics, after all, and that aspect of photography hasn't changed much.
Thank you for visiting this blog! Special thanks to the newsletter subscribers; you get this photo a week before the internet does :-).
Cheers,
