Day 3: The Ice Skater
2026-02-09
Hello! This is a fairly new photo, for once. Hope you like it :-).
I must have a penchant for golden hour photography, because I just love this one. I went to a county park in Pennsylvania, US, that I haven't visited in so long; in fact, it's been more than a year since my last photo from around there. Families were playing ice hockey on the lake, and others were traveling on the icy lake, whether they were experienced or just beginning.
I got this photo by just wandering around in the park. There was lots of snow (which had frozen into a smooth sheet of ice), so I wasn't willing to go off the paved trail too much, but according to my GPS Logger app, I spent ninety minutes walking less than three kilometers. Again, I just wandered. I didn't have a fixed goal in mind or a specific photo I was aiming to take.
Honestly, I think that's a major theme in a lot of my work. When I take photos for myself, I'm mostly just there to enjoy the process. In this case, that means slipping on sheets of snow and struggling through the biting cold...
Now that I'm warm at home, I've got music recommendations, specifically the newest album by The 8-Bit Big Band. I'll link to different music platforms in the future, but I'm linking Bandcamp today because that's how I got the music: I bought it outright to get the digital download. Support your artists.
Thank you for visiting this blog! Special thanks to the newsletter subscribers; you get this photo a week before the internet does :-).
Cheers,
David
